CONE PENETRATION TEST (CPT)
Cone Penetration Test, CPT, is performed by advancement of a probe into the soil, having a cone tip which is facing downward with a constant, controlled velocity (2cm/s). Our equipment is produced by Geomil (Dutch origined firm) in 2006 model having 20 tonnes capacity(thrust), is used for soils in range of soft/loose to medium stiff/dense in order to determine mechanical soil properties and soil classification. Diameter of the probe is 10 cm2, having 600 apex angle. Basic type electronical probe(CPT) is utilized for obtaining two parameters, tip resistance, qc, and skin friction fs. CPTU probes can measure pore water pressure value u2, additionally. With the help of u2, effective overburden pressure and other effective parameters could be obtained. In the CPT, data could be collected for every 1.0cm depth of soil. Additionally, by utilizing SCPT probe, shear and pressure velocities of the soil unit can be measeured in every desired interval.
